The coaching programme is the core activity of the Academy which is supported by a fully integrated programme of Athletic Develoment, Education and Games.

Arsenal Football Academy is the football development department for Arsenal Football Club, based at Hale End Sports Ground, offering a full time football training programme for elite youth players.

Arsenal Football Club Academy has for many years been a world leader in its field and is a constantly growing department within the organisation.

The aim of the Arsenal Football Academy is to individually tailor each boy's development as a footballer by providing a World Class Youth Development programme. The programme promotes the development of elite training environments to consistently outperform international competition. By placing players at the heart of the programme the aim is to develop and grow future Premier League players in an environment which is challenging, developmental and inspirational.

Job Role

The role of The Pre-Academy Coach involves overseeing and delivering of the training and games programme of the Under 6 - Under 8 age groups and assisting the age groups directly below and above whilst working closely with support departments to deliver both on and off field success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To plan, deliver and review age appropriate coaching sessions within the Pre-Academy & regional development centres.
  • Submit session plans, match reports, attendance and player reviews to the u6-u9 recruitment coordinator
  • To be available for work four times a week across the Pre-Academy, one of which includes a match either home or away.
  • To be available to go on tours in England and abroad.
  • To be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of equipment.
  • To be flexible and ableto coverfor holidays and sickness
  • To conduct with the u6-u9 Recruitment Coordinator mid and full season meetings with boys and parents and coaches under the position-holders responsibility.
  • To maintain discipline as set out in the Arsenal Football Club Code of Conduct.(Players, Parents, Coaches)
  • To identify resource needs and report as appropriate.
  • To adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to Arsenal Football Club and its operation.
  • To participate in scouting opportunities whenever possible
  • To meet with recruitment team and discuss retain and release strategies.
  • To undertake any other duties as seen appropriate by the Head of Youth Development

MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education/Qualifications/Training:

  • UEFA B Coaching Award (or working towards)
  • FA Youth Award Module 3 (or working towards)
  • Valid FA Licensed Coaches Club Membership
  • Up to date Safeguarding Children Certificate and Emergency Aid

Specific Experience:

Required

  • To have previous experience as an Academy Coach with relevant age groups.
  • To have up an up to date understanding of long term player development, modern coaching methods and strategies

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

  • An ability to communicate effectively with parents, coaches and players of varying ages and experience
  • An ability to produce written and verbal reports
  • A successful and verifiable record of coaching young players at Academy level.
  • To have a minimum of moderate IT skills

Please note this role is a Casual Agreement.

Hours of Work

Hours of work will vary on a weekly basis and may include evening and weekend work.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check for regulated activity.
