DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Arsenal Football Academy is the football development department for Arsenal Football Club, based at Hale End Sports Ground, offering a full-time football training programme for elite youth players.

Arsenal Football Club Academy has for many years been a world leader in its field and is a constantly growing department within the organisation.

The aim of the Arsenal Football Academy is to individually tailor each boy's development as a footballer by providing a World Class Youth Development programme. The programme promotes the development of elite training environments to consistently outperform international competition. By placing players at the heart of the programme the aim is to develop and grow future Premier League players in an environment which is challenging, developmental and inspirational.

The coaching programme is the core activity of the Academy which is supported by a fully integrated programme of Athletic Development, Education and Games.

JOB PURPOSE

The role of The Academy Goalkeeping Coach involves overseeing and delivering of the Academy Goalkeeping Programme from Under 9 - Under 16 age groups, working across the Foundation and Youth Development Phase, whilst working closely with support departments to deliver both on and off field success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To design and present, for assessment and appraisal by the Academy Manager, coaching strategies all players designated to him from the Arsenal Academy coaching programme and ensure all agreed strategies are implemented within agreed timescales.

To meet with Youth Academy Goalkeeping Coach on a regular basis to report progress.

To plan and submit session plans, match reports, attendance and reviews.

To be available to work during school holidays.

To be available to go on tours in England and abroad.

To be available for work four times a week across the Academy, which includes matches either home or away.

To be responsible for equipment.

To be flexible and able to cover for holidays and sickness

To conduct with the Youth Academy Goalkeeping Coach mid and full season meetings with boys and parents and coaches under the position-holders responsibility.

To maintain discipline as set out in the Arsenal Football Club Code of Conduct. (Players, Parents, Coaches)

To identify resource needs and report as appropriate.

To adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to Arsenal Football Club and its operation.

To participate in scouting opportunities whenever possible

To meet with recruitment and discuss retain and release strategies.

To undertake any other duties as seen appropriate by the Head of Youth Development.

MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education/Qualifications/Training:

UEFA B Coaching Award

FA Goalkeeping B Licence (working towards UEFA A Goalkeeping Licence)

FA Youth Award Module 3 (working towards FA Advanced Youth Award)

Valid FA Licensed Coaches Club Membership

Up to date Safeguarding Children Certificate and Emergency Aid

Specific Experience:

Required

To have previous experience as an Academy Goalkeeping Coach with relevant age groups.

To have up an up to date understanding of long-term player development, modern coaching methods and strategies

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

An ability to communicate effectively with parents, coaches and players of varying ages and experience

An ability to produce written and verbal reports

A successful and verifiable record of coaching young players at Academy level.

To have a minimum of moderate IT skills

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check for regulated activity.

Hours of Work:

This is a casual position so hours of work will vary on a weekly/ monthly basis and will include evening and weekend work.
